Standard Merton s. xvii, sewn on four bands; formerly chained from the usual position. Fols. i-iii, 110–12 are paper binding leaves, the first and last two from the same printed book as in MS 45. fol. iv was formerly a pastedown in an earlier binding.
History
Provenance and Acquisition
At the head of fol. ivv, s. xv, ‘Liber domus scolarium de Merton’ in Oxonia’.
Seen at Merton by John Bale (Appendix C, no. 16).
At the head of fol. 1 is the James no. ‘222’, s. xvii in., cropped.
On fol. iv is the title of art. 1, s. xvii, and ‘O. 8. 13. Art:’, canc. and replaced with ‘H. 1. 12 (CXCVIII)’ in red.

A proficient, upright anglicana using a thick nib. The scribes supply marginal apparatus, especially in I; one or more anglicana hands annotate, heavily in III, together with corrections to the text. The additional text on fol. 78* is probably in one of these annotating hands.
Decoration
Blue initials flourished in red; red or blue paraphs.
