A genealogical table showing Henry VI’s descent from Adam

The final membrane, illustrating the kings from Henry IV to Henry VII, is missing. The whole was noted as missing 1980–6 and has probably been lost since at least 1971. The MS is not with Pointer’s other book, MS 252, on permanent loan to the Museum of the History of Science (Old Ashmolean), Oxford.

Provenance and Acquisition

Part of the collection of curiosities bequeathed by John Pointer in 1754; see his Oxoniensis Academia (London, 1749), 94, where ‘A large Chronological Table in Vellum of all the Kings and Princes etc., from Adam to King Henry VII’ is listed among the ‘curiosities’ of St John’s College.
