A note written on fol. 203 in 1753 gives the name Nicomedes de Venutis as the alias of Comedius. For another MS. written by him see Colophons de mss. i., no. 2791.

Origin: 1455 ; Italian, Cortona (?)

Provenance and Acquisition

According to a note written in 1753 on fol. 203, this MS. was then 'in Bibliotheca equ. Marcelli et Fratrum de Venutis' at Cortona.

According to another note on fol. 203, written by Benvenuto Giuseppe de Venutti, son of Marcello, the MS. came to his father from Giovanni Girolamo Severini (?), and to him from the priest Pier Antonio Santucci, who found it at Florence.

Bought at Rome from the signore Guiseppa Venuti for £5 in April 1883.
