Augustine, Sermones de uerbis domini

Sixty-six sermons, with a list at the beginning, headed '... Augustini de verbo euuangelii secundum Mattheum'. A 13th cent. (?) title on fol. iv 'Gregorius .xlta. Omeliarum' deceived the writers of the 1605 and 1620 catalogues.

Binding

Stamped white sheepskin (about 1602) over older sewing and boards, worn, with peculiar arched strings let into each board to secure the band-ends.

Exeter Cathedral: identifiable in catalogues of 1327 and 1506 (MLGB3)

Presented by the dean and chapter of Exeter in 1602.
