History
Provenance and Acquisition
Canterbury, Kent, Benedictine cathedral priory of Holy Trinity or Christ Church: Provenance inferred from calendar entries. Cf. F. Wormald, English Benedictine Kalendars after A. D. 1100, 1 (HBS 1938) 63. Pp. 197–208 of a larger volume: 17th-cent. foliation. (MLGB3: Liturgical evidence, often to be found in the kalendar).
Feasts of the translation of St Edward (instituted 1161) and of Thomas Becket (canonized 1173) have been added, suggesting the original entries were made before these dates.
'Dedicatio ecclesie Christi Cant.', 4 May, deleted, but other entries confirm the provenance (see Summary Catalogue).
Referenced in 1884.
