In its first form in four books, wanting (after fol. 16) from after the words 'Per idem etiam tempus Egesippus (historiographus)' in the 2nd book to before the words 'occisus: cuius regnum Childebertus filius eius' at the end of the 3rd book: the prologues are in this MS., the one to the first book being the letter to Adela. The only note of authorship is a rather late addition on fol. 1, 'composite per Hugonem Sancti Benedicti Floriacensis ...'
