Provenance and Acquisition

Winchester, Hampshire, Benedictine cathedral priory of St Peter, St Paul, and St Swithun: Memorandum (fol. 134r), that the feats of St Benedict was celebrated in 1269 "cum ant' et R' de tempore paschali" on Tuesday after the octave of Easter, Easter falling that year on March 24, "domino Valent' tunc priore. Iohanne de Vreuill' suppriore. Gileberto de froyle precentore. N. de Hamme tercio priore". (MLGB3: evidence from locally specific contents, including obits, scribbles, etc.).

Later at Belvoir, Lincolnshire, Benedictine priory of St Mary the Virgin (cell of St Albans); ‘Istum librum dedit frater Willelmus de Beluero prior eiusdem ⟨deo et s. Marie de Beluero quem qui alienauerit uel fraudem aliquam inde⟩ fecerit anathema sit. ⟨Anima dicti Willelmi et anime⟩ omnium fidelium defunctorum ⟨requiescat in pace⟩ Amen’ (in red, foot of fol. 1r, erased, but as in Eton College, MS 48 pt 2.(MLGB3)
