Square notation on 10 staves of 4 or 5 red lines.


Fine historiated borders. Initials. Related in style to Castilian miniature painting such as Madrid, Bibliotheca Nacional R. 205 made for don Pedro de Fernando de Velasco, conde de Haro, made Constable of Castile in 1462. (Pächt and Alexander i. 893, pl. LXVI)

Numerous gold initials on coloured grounds and finely executed flowers; illuminated borders (fols. 1, 127) to which afterwards arms have been added (see Provenance)

Provenance and Acquisition

Van Dijk suggested St Augustine's, Burgos, based on the kalendar (29 January, 30 April, 20 December) and the Augustinian character of the book. The dedication of the church or the cathedral is in the kalendar on 28 May.

Arms, fols. 1 and 127: barry nebuly gules and argent.
