15th century, Italian (as MS., a university book written by a Spanish(?) student at Bologna, later in a chained library): wood boards; brown leather, blind-tooled with multiple lines and stamps to form a large diamond shape within a panel, and bold cross-hatching with triple lines on spine; remains of two fore-edge clasps with red textile straps (lost) and leaf-shaped catch-plates (one extant), and of a lost chain-staple at lower edge of back cover; label of thick paper pasted at upper centre back cover with ink title, 15th century. c. 348–349 × 237–240 × c. 58–59 mm. (book closed).
