The fifth shield (fol. 1) is that of the 'Counte' of Lancaster, created earl in 1345 but duke in 1351. The only writing is names written above each shield. On the first five pages these are in contemporary book hand but thereafter they are in a variety of cursive hands, 14th-16th centuries.
