Provenance and Acquisition

For dating see Vendruscolo, as cited below, and (inter alia) D. Baldi, 'Etymologicum Symeonis Ζ' in The Literary Legacy of Byzantium: Editions, Translations, and Studies in Honour of Joseph A. Munitiz SJ (2019), 77-108 at 81.

'Λανρεντίου τοῦ Λανρεντίου ἔστι τò βίβλιου' (16th century?): Lorenzo Loredan (?). (Cf. MS. D'Orville 60). The inscription is not in Loredan's hand and was probably added by a later owner but Vendruscolo regarded Loredan's ownership as likely (F. Vendruscolo, 'Lorenzo Loredan 'copista' e possessore di codici greci', Italia Medioevale e Umanistica 38 (1995), 337-63 at 354-5).

Jacques Phillippe D'Orville of Amsterdam (1690–1751)

Jean D'Orville, b. 1734, his son, by descent

Jean D'Orville, son of Jean, by descent

Sold to the Rev. John Cleaver Banks (1765/1766–1845): purchased from him by the Bodleian

Acquired by the Bodleian in 1804
