Provenance and Acquisition

Michael Mattaire: Gaisford states that D'Orville bought this MS. at Maittaire's sale in 1748 (Catal. vol. i, p. 239, no. 195), where it sold for 12s. 6d., and the purchaser was Whitehead, who may have been D'Orville's agent.
