Provenance and Acquisition

Bristol, Gloucestershire, Dominican convent (?) : 'Universis et singulis Christi fidelibus presentes litteras inspecturis Iohannes Hylsey prior ordinis fratrum predicatorum Bristolie salutem' (fol. 4v, otherwise blank except for scribbles). He was prior in 1533 (BRUO 1540, 289–90). (MLGB3: evidence from an inscription of ownership by an individual member of a religious house (which may not, however, be evidence for institutional ownership)).
