Usuardus, Martyrologium

Beginning abruptly with 17 March (fol. 3); with hiatus from 27 March to 2 April (after fol. 4); from 7 to 29 April (after fol. 5) and from 13 to 18 June (after fol. 17); ending abruptly with 23 December. Many local entries.

Some of the British saints are peculiar, such as Aldebertus martyr on May 18, Wenburga on Sept. 21. The first entry will serve as a specimen:--'Sextodecimo Kalendas Aprilis [calendarial notes] In Scocia sancti Patricii episcopi & confessoris, qui primus ibidem Christum evangelizavit ... Item in Britannia sancte Wythburge uirginis. Et aliorum.'

Fol.48 (1 November) 'In Britannia, dedicatio basilice alme trinitatis et dei genitricis semperque virginis nec non et omnium sanctorum'.

'Orate pro anima Johannis Derham capellani' (second half of the 15th cent. ?).

Bequeathed by him to the Bodleian.
