Binding

White leather on boards, title on back, clasp wanting, contemporary English work, repaired. A 13th-cent. parchment label of contents on the outer end cover was removed to the inside of the same board in 1884.

Worcester, Worcestershire, Benedictine cathedral priory of St Mary the Virgin: Documents addressed to Worcester (altered in s. xv to Malvern) on fol. 1r. Script of Worcester type (cf. Bodley 223). (MLGB3: evidence from the style of script or illumination and from contents).

Great Malvern, Worcestershire, Benedictine Abbey of Saint Mary the Virgin and St Michael; cell of Westminster (?): Documents addressed to Worcester (altered in s. xv to Malvern) on fol. 1r. For conjecture (improbable) of Malvern ownership see S.C. (MLGB3: evidence from locally specific contents, including obits, scribbles, etc.).

Label with title formerly on back board, now pasted on the inner side of the back board. Medieval binding. The number 139 noticed in S.C. modern. Title in large caps on back-strip "INCIPIT PRAEFATIO IOHANNIS IN COLLATIONIBUS PATRUM" (cf. Bodl. 543). Another title in large hand at end: "COLLACIONES PATRUM". (MLGB3)
