Dimensions (ruled): 175–85 × 110–20 mm.
Foliation: Modern pencil: i, 1–135, in the usual place, and the parchment leaves also previously foliated in modern pencil in the lower gutter corner; an early foliation in ink apparently only extended from 'fo. 1' to 'fo. 5'.

Written by a variety of cursive hands.

Decoration

Occasional pointing hands in the margins to indicate notable passages of text.

Binding

Modern three-quarter red leather and red cloth over pasteboards; the spine lettered in gilt 'NATURA | BREVUM | ETC.'

Origin: English ; 14th century, first half

Provenance and Acquisition

'Edmond [goxd??], 14th century (fol. 1r).

'[Sir] Edw:[ard] [C]oke' (fol. 1r); the upper pastedown inscribed 'Codex DCCLII' (the LII atered in pencil to LIV), 'M.S.L. Cupboard D' (crossed through, and altered to) Case C.iii.b15', formerly Norfolk, Holkham Hall, MS. 754.
