Followed (fol.329) by a short note by the compiler on the citation in the margins of authors used, and (fol.329v) a list of these. Leiden, University Library MS. Voss. lat. fol.81 contains a complete text with preface stating that the work was compiled at the Cistercian abbey of Merevale. Another MS. was A.66 in the Syon catalogue (ed. M. Bateson p.8). Provenance and Acquisition

Colchester, Essex, Franciscan convent: "Memorandum quod Johannes Baldwyn' vicarius de Ardeleigh' contulit hunc librum ffratri Matheo Shypman ordinis minorum conuentus Colcestr' anno domini millesimo quingentesimo decimo scriptum manu propria dicti vicarii" (fol. 1r) (Ardleigh is 4 1/2 miles N.E. of Colchester). (MLGB3: evidence from an inscription of ownership by an individual member of a religious house (which may not, however, be evidence for institutional ownership)).

Offered for sale by Francis Edwards, Ltd (83 Marylebone High St., W. 1) Cat. 624 item 253 (1938) for £30 and in Cat. 637 item 110 (1939) for £24. Bought by the Bodleian from Ph. Goldschmidt in 1942 (£50). (MLGB3)
