Sewn on five cords, and bound in (?)late-19th-century (?)French plain parchment over stiff pasteboards, the covers tooled with simple panels in gilt; the spine with gilt foliate ornament and a brown leather title piece lettered in gilt 'BONAVENTURA | MS. 1405.'; marbled endpapers; the edges of the leaves gilt; a rust-stain at the upper edge of fol. 1 may have been caused by a chain attachment.

Signed, dated, colophon: 'Explicit breuiloquium de fide catholica. editum a bonauentura cordigero. exellenti doctore: scriptum a fratre andrea de vaylico suessionum diocesis. anno domini MCCCCV. finitum mense ianuario. pro fratre henrico pistoris plebano et bachalario in sacra pagina: canonico ecclesie sanctissimi victoris martiris parisiensis:', followed by a distinctive notarial(?) mark, also used with each catchword; the scribe also wrote BnF, ms. lat. 14537, in 1394–5; Henri Pistor was prior of St.-Victor in the early 15th century; 'K.8' (fol. iiir) is the pressmark of St.-Victor; the table of contents (fol. iiiv) is in the hand of Claude de Grandrue (cf. L. Delisle, Cabinet des manuscrits, II: 228–31); 'E.g.14' (fol. 2r) is another St.-Victor shelfmark, assigned by Le Tonnellier, c.1675
