History

Origin: 15th century, second half ; English

Provenance and Acquisition

In the kalendar the two feasts of St. Osmund of Salisbury (16 July, 4 Dec.) both in red are difficult to be brought into agreement with that of St. Clarus martyr (18 July) which is also in red. Together with the mass of St. Withburga (fol. 129), whose feast is not in the kalendar, the latter seems to point to the diocese of Ely, while those of St. Osmund rather suggest a S. Western origin.

William Laud, by 1636.

Part of his second donation to the Bodleian, sent 16 June 1636.
