Provenance and Acquisition

Syon, Middlesex, Bridgettine abbey of St Saviour, St Mary the Virgin, and St Bridget: On second pastedown: 'syster Anne Colvylle' and below it 'of your charyte prey for sustyr [clemens trays]burght' (letters in brackets visible by u-v light). Anne Colville and Clemencia Tharebrough are in the old Syon list (Aungier, p. 82). (MLGB3: evidence from an inscription of ownership by an individual member of a religious house (which may not, however, be evidence for institutional ownership)).
