Provenance and Acquisition

Gloucester, Gloucestershire, Benedictine abbey of St Peter: "Iste liber constat Iohanni Paunteley". Original binding. Flyleaves from accounts mentioning manors belonging to Gloucester (cf. Dugdale, Mon., 1. 545ff.). One of the sermons, fol. 13r, is "Sermo Johannis Paunteley in exequiis Walteri Frouceter abbatis Glouc', a. d. 1412, May 3." Paunteley was a monk at Gloucester, ordained deacon 8. 6. 1392 (Reg. Trefnant, pp. 201, 203). (MLGB3: evidence from an inscription of ownership and from the binding).
