This description is abbreviated from Daniela Mairhofer, Medieval Manuscripts from Würzburg in the Bodleian Library, Oxford: A Descriptive Catalogue (Oxford, 2014), pp. 326–46. For purposes of scholarly citation, reference to the printed catalogue is requested.
Composite: seven codicological units A-G, and an inserted parchment sheet. Probably all together by the second half of the fifteenth century.

Extent: i + 253 + 1 leaves, foliated 1–254; 214 double.

Binding

Brown tanned calf over laminated pulpboard, 19th century, blind-tooled.

History

Provenance and Acquisition

Würzburg, Stift Haug (?): the inserted fragment, fol. 253v (= part 5), bears ownership (?) inscription naming Theodorus, dean of Kollegiatstift Haug (‘Theodorus decanus ecclesie sancti Iohannis in hauge extra muros herbipolis’).

Folcardus de Hassia: ownership inscription, fol. 253v, in an 'editorial' hand of 15th century, second half, which occurs throughout the volume; Folcardus may have been its compiler.

William Laud, 1573–1645: his ex libris, 1633, fol. 2r.

Given to the Bodleian as part of his first donation, dispatched on 22 May 1635.
