Contemporary additions: proses of Our Lady, the mass of St. Richard, bishop and confessor (fols. 1, 3v); kalendar (fol. 7); blessing of holy water (fol. 13); temporale (fol. 16) with prefaces (fol. 126v) and canon (fol. 131); common of the dedication (fol. 187); sanctorale (fol. 188); common of the saints (fol. 242); mass of St. John of Bridlington (fol. 262) with a commemoration (antiphon, versicle and prayers) for his translation feast; votive masses (fol. 253v), among which the mass of the Holy Name (fol. 267), introduced by a long rubric stating that Robert [Hallam], bp. of Sarum, gave an indulgence in 1411; marriage service (fol. 280), incomplete.

Origin: 15th century, second quarter, after 1411 ; English

Provenance and Acquisition

Written after 1411 (fol. 267); texts of St John of Bridlington (fols. 262–3) possibly suggest a Yorkshire or northern origin.

Richard Rawlinson, 1690–1755

Bequeathed by him to the Bodleian.
