Provenance and Acquisition

Syon, Middlesex, Bridgettine abbey of St Saviour, St Mary the Virgin, and St Bridget: Written in the use of the nuns of Sion. 'E.M.', which stands for Elizabeth Monton: see Aberdeen, UL, MS. 134. (MLGB3: inferred evidence).

Bodleian, Rawl. C.941 is the second part of Aberdeen, UL, 134. 'Of charite prayeth for the wreched servaunt Robert T. wryter of this book' (ad fin., in the same hand as the rest of the book). A modern hand has pencilled 'Tailour' below. The sections of the work are marked by parchment tags projecting from the side, as in Bodley 630, a Sion book. The binding is a fine blind-stamped one by h. I. [Iacobi ? c.1530]. (MLGB3)
