Provenance and Acquisition

Kirkham, Yorkshire, Augustinian priory of Holy Trinity or Christ Church: "Obitus domini Ade de Warter. Prioris de Kyrkham. Anno domini Mccc xlix" added at Feb. 10 (fol. 2r). Historical notes include one of the burning of Malton by the Scots in 1321 (fol. 9v). Later apparently belonged to Knaresboro', to judge by entries. Cf. S.C. v Corrigenda 13704. Knaresborough, Yorkshire, Trinitarian convent: Kalendar originally for Kirkham, with Knaresborough additions (cf. S.C. v Corrigenda no. 13704). See entries for 1432, 1434 on fol. 10v, and for 1269 (in hand of s. xv) on fol. 7v. (MLGB3: evidence from locally specific contents, including obits, scribbles, etc.).

Belonged to Ralph Thoresby, see Ducatus Leodiensis (ed. 1816), p. 135, where it is described as being kept in a Sprig-work case, each leaf being folded in three.
