School of Maître François (Pächt and Alexander i. 750). Half-page miniatures and illuminated borders at the beginning of the offices and the Penitential Psalms; less elaborate borders and illuminated initials at the beginning of the Hours of the Lady office and the other parts of the volume.

Provenance and Acquisition
The volume belonged to 'Jehan Mocquet, 1618' (fol. 13, see his autobiographical notes of 1632 on fols. 136, 139 and 'M.' on the binding: he was 'garde du Cabinet des singularites du Roy au Palais des Thuilleries')
'Ce liure a Eté donné par le sr Mogier a S. [?] de [?] Besson', perhaps in 1686. The book bears a fine armorial bookplate of F. Besson von Steffys of the canton of Freiburg [i.e. François Besson of Estavayer-le-Lac, 1622-?1675]. Some considerable additional matter was at some time taken away from the end of the present volume.
