Provenance and Acquisition

On fol. 1v 'Hic est liber magistri Ricardi rectoris ecclesie de Hanewrth'. On fol. 278v are transcribed 3 formal deeds showing that this Richard lived in about 1240-1260, and that the Hanworth is Cold Hanworth in the county of Lincoln.

On fol. 1v (badly mutilated) is 'Gilbertus Haralby tenetur Petro de Tumba sancti Hugonis in iij solidis per iij septimanas a die Lune proxima ante Assumptionem beate Marie anno gratie M.ccº.⟨x⟩º. octauo. [i.e. Monday 11 August 1298] infra xxx dies a die predicta reddendis. sed librum istum isti [?] liberatum [?] eidem Petro renunciat, si [secus?] fecerit idem Gilbertus in presentia sua, sicut predictum est. Testibus Willelmo de Fet [or Fec]. & Willelmo de Lutreuell [?] tunc presentibus'. [The reference is to the tomb of St Hugh in Lincoln Cathedral.]

'Suum cuique. Tho: Hearne Maij 10, 1724. Ex dono amicissimi doctissimique viri Richardi Graves de Mickleton in agro Gloucestriensi, armigeri.'
